Based in New York since 1881, we’ve been providing the world’s most renowned interior designers and architects with fine custom upholstered furniture, reupholstery and curtains for five generations. All furniture is made in-house by hand, based on one of our hundreds of furniture models or on custom designs, using old world techniques applied by skilled artisans. Our reupholstery capabilities are no less comprehensive, working with the finest museum-quality pieces, ensuring they are returned to the client ready to last generations. We also offer our clients a full range of curtains and soft goods including valances, shades, bed hangings, cushions, pillows, and other items – all made to the same exacting standards.

Here, the New York living room of Mr. and Mrs. Frederic René Coudert, III, decorated by Mr. Hadley in 1974. The painting above the sofa by Larry Poons; above the piano on the right is a Joan Miró. The graphic herringbone pattern of the parquet floors coupled with the damask upholstery in the foreground is amazing, isn’t it? If memory serves, all of the upholstered furniture was completed by @schneller_inc.
Fun fact: the late Mr. Coudert was, for many years, the President of the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club; in fact, the clubhouse in the West Bronx bears his and his wife Margaret’s names.

One of the challenging aspects of this build was incorporating the back sections in such a way that they look like loose back cushions but are firmly fastened to the frame, resulting in less maintenance while maintaining the modular look

When commissioning a tray ottoman from your workroom, one of the most important things is to send the tray along, so they can ensure the upholstery fits perfectly
Just enough allowance to drop the tray in smoothly while not enough to leave any gaps
And make sure the border around the sides is large enough to rest a drink or your feet on without knocking the tray
