Providing our clients with fine custom upholstered furniture has been one of our trademarks for over 135 years. Working from a wide array of timeless models, many of which are named for our prestigious clients, we are able to adjust the furniture’s dimensions and construction to meet the client’s needs for comfort and function. We also frequently work with designers to produce bespoke pieces from photographs or sketches. We produce a full range of beds, including headboards, bed frames and four-poster beds with valances and draperies. As a full-service firm, with frame construction and upholstery done in-house, we’re able to provide the designer with the benefit of seeing the piece through all stages of production.
Each piece is made to last for generations, using only the finest materials and techniques. Our frames are made with the sturdiest construction using hardwood lumber and glued and dowelled joints. The transition from structure to comfort begins with jute webbing and eight-way hand tied steel springs and continues with hand-stitched horsehair and burlap. Cotton and down pads are then used to finish construction. Cushions are fabricated in-house to achieve the right level of comfort for the client while maintaining the design aesthetic. Fabric is hand cut and applied by our master upholsterers all of whom have familiarity working with fabrics of every type, from leather and horsehair to Fortuny and large-repeat fabrics. Each piece is as important to us as the last, and our entire process is designed to ensure that we meet the designer’s exacting needs.
